About the Dish:
Samgyeopsal is a popular Korean dish that consists of grilled pork belly slices. The name Samgyeopsal literally means three-layered flesh in Korean, referring to the three distinct layers of meat and fat found in pork belly slices. This dish is typically enjoyed in a social setting, where friends and family gather around a grill to cook the meat together.
|Sesame Oil||1 tablespoon|
|Soy Sauce||2 tablespoons|
|Black Pepper||1/2 teaspoon|
|Sesame Seeds||1 tablespoon|
|Lettuce Leaves||10 leaves|
- Step 1: Slice the pork belly into thin, bite-sized pieces. Crush the garlic cloves and mix them with the sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Marinate the pork belly in this mixture for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
- Step 2: Preheat a grill or a non-stick pan on medium heat. Remove the pork belly from the marinade and grill it for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until it is cooked through and slightly crispy.
- Step 3: While the pork belly is grilling, prepare the garnishes. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves, and cut the kimchi into small pieces.
- Step 4: Once the pork belly is cooked, remove it from the heat and sprinkle it with sesame seeds. Serve the grilled pork belly with lettuce leaves, kimchi, and any other desired side dishes.
